Traveling around on his first trip to New Orleans, Merrick got to experience a good bit of culture history he will never remember. But that is ok, we will ensure he sees these pictures over and over.
Here are pics of Mommy and Daddy across from Jackson Square.
Hot and Humid. Those were the words. It would rain like crazy, then the sun would come out and turn it into a sauna. Here we are waiting out a surprise rain under a balcony in the French Quarter.
You can tell the poor little man is hot.
We ate at one of our favorite places, the Crescent City Brewhouse (right down from the New Orleans Cigar Company...hehe). Excellent atmosphere, although Patty didn't get her original Bouillabaisse.
We drove down all the way to the Southern most tip of the Louisiana boot where the Mississippi Delta is. Along the way, we passed Ft Jackson, near the mouth of the Mississippi and a monument commemorating Cavelier De La Salle, the explorer.
We drove all the way to Venice, the last town at the Delta. We were able to go a couple of miles further down some roads that started to get a little to low to the water. Look left, look right, the bayou waters of the Gulf come right up to both sides of the road.
Flooding can be so bad down there, the Venice High School is on stilts. There is open picnic tables and benchs underneath and it seemed maybe some parking. All the classrooms were on the second floor.
Here is Merrick on his first ferry ride. We are going from the West Bank to the East Bank side down town (in the distance). It was pretty windy..
And here is a set of the cutest pictures. I took these while waiting for the ferry to dock.
