WOW time flies when you are sleep deprived! Seriously, the time seems to just fly by and the little man just grows and grows.
The thirds month has seen some dramatic changes in Merrick. Vocalizing his cooing like he is talking back atya, giggling, reaching a little and he has even turned over several times! In the next several days, the bassinet will be swapped out for the full crib in our bedroom.
Here is Merrick in the morning when he just LOVES to talk your ear off (neither Patty nor I can figure out where he got THAT habit from...)
Here are a couple of pics of the Number 1 Mom and her big baby boy.
And when we say Merrick is getting big, we aren't exagerating. Merrick was 14lbs 9 oz at his last Doctor's visit 2 weeks ago. That puts him well over 15 lbs now. Patty measured him and he was at least 26.5 inches.
Here are a couple of Merrick in his little portable swing we bought for traveling.
Merrick has started reaching for things now. I guess the next thing for him to accomplish will be his ability to say "Mine!"
Just to see how he would fit, we put him in his high chair while we actually ate dinner at the table a couple of times. It looks a little big for him, but not all that big. It won't be long.
Merrick has been spending time on the tummy more often. He can't crawl yet, but he has scootched himself a couple of inches on occasion. Here he is on a really wonderful crazy quilt Dotty made. This is one we like to use alot because it gives him room to move and has nice contrasting colors. I had the video camera out waiting for him to roll over again.
He needs to really work out his neck and back muscles to support the monster noggin he got from his parents. He would get stronger and get more out of his workouts if he didn't just lay there and suck on his arms and fists half of the time. I am going to have to teach him about not goofing off while during serious training.
Of course the most significant advancement (if you were to ask Merrick) of this past month, would be the recognition of Merrick as an actual Human Family Member by Bailey. Bailey dropped the ball in Merrick's lap and backed up waiting for him to throw it. Merrick can't throw it yet of course, but I am sure Bailey is just waiting to have a playmate with as much endless energy as he has. Here, Bailey is dropping the ball (for the third or fourth time) and backing up ready to chase it.
Our best days have been Mother's Day and Father's Day. It was great to be the subject of the days finally. Here is the proud Father in his Father's Day present with his son.
We decided to have a Father's Day get together of our friends with kids. We smoked a bunch of ribs and had a good time in the backyard (fathers taking turns in the hammock). It got pretty hot so we came in to cool off. Here are pictures of Keith and Mei with Shawn and Lori and all of their kids. And another with Shawn and Lori with their babies Jay and Little Stevie.
Below, is a picture of all the kids finally rounded up. From left to right are: Lori with her and Dale's son Jay; Shawn with his and Kitty's son Steven; Kitty with Keith and Mei's children, Nick and Angie; Dale in the back; Cathy Hanson with her and Eric's kids, Colin and Caroline; and Patty with Merrick. This one will take a little to load because I left it at a little better quality.
It was great to share these with you, stay tuned for more.
