About 8pm Monday Mar 17th, we headed on over to the hospital. Patty was having long contractions 2-4 minutes apart. The hospital had a nice large birthing room as seen below.
After we got to the hospital, they broke her water and then administered the epidural (sp?). After which, Patty was able to start smiling again.
From about 9pm until about 5am on the 18th, things went nice and calmly for the most part. The main labor started around 5am and went to 8:25am when Merrick was born. Here are the first pictures right after he as born. His lids were a little irritated from the anti-biotics they used to wash them out and caused some redness that went away after a little while.
After Merrick's initial clean up, I got to hold him a good bit. Here is a picture with Dr Chen. What a great doc!
I then wheeled him over to get his physical and first bath.
Last but not least, here is sleeping after his first full meal.
