The Big Snow

Yes, we got it. Got it all. Way hard for a Louisianian born and bred. 24+ inches of the white frozen stuff.

Yet, THANKS to POWER TOOLS, it wasn't nearly as back breaking as it could have been. This Big Snow started Friday evening. Saturday saw about 6 inches, not too bad at all. By Sunday, it started really coming down and didn't stop until Monday afternoon. I had to clear twice on Sunday and then alot on Monday.

Here is the snow Sunday late morning/early afternoon. I have already cleared the front once Saturday. The snow is halfway up the legs of Shawn's smoker.

Here I am finishing up clearing the Snow for the second time Sunday before it gets dark. Look closely at the right picture and you can see the snow coming down somewhat sideways. That is also the reason everything is so blurry looking.

Then we woke up Monday. Goooodnessss! It had snowed an inch an hour or more all night. Look at how far the snow is up the legs of Shawn's smoker now. The Volvo had about a two foot drift on it and halfway up the passenger side. Pretty odd looking.

Here are two pictures taken while clearing Monday. The snow was very heavy and sticky You can see how sticky it was when I cleared out a little overhang on the drift on the Volvo. I got it about 5-6 inches longer before it fell.

What, what, what would we do without our power tools. Good 'ol Sears Snow Thrower: Auger propelled, 2-cycle, 5hp, and back saving snow butt kicker.

Viola, no more snow on the driveway. Patty can move all the furniture she wants now and we don't have to worry about getting out of the driveway to go to the hospital. Of course, GETTING to the hospital is a different matter (Frederick City needs more power tools).

And so went the Big Snow of '03. Worst snow in Baltimore recorded history (26+ inches), 6th worse of D.C. (they only got 16" or so). We are sure we got more than the 24" they are crediting Frederick with. But hey, no worries with power tools (of course, it still doesn't mean I am not looking for a job in Florida now.)
